Setting up a Font

If your script has special characters then you will need to link to the font for that script. For web fonts you need to convert your TTF font file to WOFF.

SIL already has some fonts like Charis converted to WOFF. Download the area subsets here (smaller than using the full font): https://scripts.sil.org/FontSubsets

You can convert your TTF font to WOFF using this website:
https://www.font2web.com

You can upload the WOFF font unter “Media”.

After you uploaded the font, you can link the font file under “Appearance” – “Other Options”.

You should insert a code similar to this in the textfield “Custom CSS” (change url and font-family name):

@font-face {
font-family: Charis SIL;
src: url(https://beli.webonary.org/files/CharisSIL-R.woff)
}

The above is for the regular font. If you want to add the one for bold, use font-weight: bold;.

@font-face {
font-family: Charis SIL;
src: url(https://beli.webonary.org/files/CharisSIL-B.woff)
font-weight: bold;
}

Please note: WOFF fonts are not compatible with older versions of Internet Explorer (IE 6/7/8), so you will additionally also need to upload an EOT font, if you want to support older browsers.

If you need different fonts to show for different display languages, you can do something like this:

:lang(zh-II) {
font-family: Nuosu SIL;
}
