Introduction

 

According to a 2011 census, there are around 75,000 people who speak Asi (Bantoanon), however the number of speakers is gradually diminishing. Most of the speakers live in Romblon Province in the Southern Philippines.

Asi (Bantoanon) language is classified as Austronesian, Malayo-Polynesian, Philippine, Greater Central Philippine, Central Philippine, Bisayan, Banton.

The language is highly valued by the group. It is taught in primary schools. The New Testament will soon become available.
