Introduction

 

Gikyode is a Guang language of Ghana spoken by over 10,400 people in the Volta region: Nkwanta district, on the Togo border, in 9 villages. Alternate names include Achode, Akyode, Chode, Gichode, Kyode

The linguistic classification is Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Kwa, Nyo, Potou-Tano, Tano, Guang, North Guang. There are no known dialects. The Gikyode has 75% lexical similarity with the Ginyanga [ayg] of Togo. The Chala [cll] language group also use Gikyode.

Some literature has been written in the Gikyode language.
