Entries explained

 

Each dictionary entry includes the grammatical class, brief definitions in French and English, and an illustrative sentence with French and English translations. Multiple definitions are separated by semicolons. Additional information is provided for several entries, including phonetic representation, variable spellings and pronunciations, and synonyms. See the example below:

a ɗih-u [à ɗíí-ú] adj. long; profond. long; deep. Ke mbi mahful a ɗih-u. Il a pris un long chemin. He took a long way.

When there are several unrelated definitions for a headword, the definitions are numbered as in the example below:

ur [ùr] v. 1) se lever 2) venir de (avec keè) 3) commencer à Ke ur tɔr da. Il s'est levé et s'est parti. He got up and left. Nzukri ur ke Mahmbum. Les gens viennent de Mahmbum. The people come from Maàhmbum. Syn: kpa̧h2
