Introduction

 

Liko (or Liliko) is a language of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is spoken by 60,000 (1989 SIL) people, 57,000 in Wamba Territory, 3,000 in Rungu Territory.

Liliko is classified as Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, Benue-Congo, Bantoid, Southern, Narrow Bantu, Central, D, Lega-Holoholo (D.201). The ISO code is [lik]. There are three dialects: Likó (Ikó), Lilikó, and Lilik.

This illustrated dictionary was created during two workshops, one in Bukavu and another in Ibambi in July 2007. Then the work was completed and verified in 2008 by the Lika community for the first printed edition.

This is the first chapter to be revised for the online version in 2021. It contains entries that relate to home, picturing many items that are used in everyday home life.
