Introduction

This Moore-French-English dictionary is the product of several years of work. The Mossi call their language Moore. Over 10 million Burkinabè speak the Moore language.

Several phonetic and lexical differences characterize the main dialects (see map below). These differences, however, seem to have no effect on the inter-comprehension.

From a linguistic point of view, the Moore language is classified by Greenberg (1963) under Niger-Congo,  Gur, Oti-volta as shown in the following schema.
