Introduction

Rungus is a language spoken by 55,000 people in the far north of Sabah, Malaysia. This language is classified as Austronesian, specifically Dusunic. The language has several dialects: Pilapazan (Central Rungus or Rungus Tanga), Gandahon, Nuluw and Gonsomon.

Other names for this language are Momogun (that is what the Rungus call themselves) and Rungus Dusun.

The specific location where the majority of the Rungus live is on the Kudat and Bengkoka (Pitas) peninsulas of Sabah, surrounding Marudu Bay, and in the Labuk-Sugut district.

There is still much work to be done on this dictionary, but we, the compilers have decided to publish this work-in-progress, in order to document all that has been done so far.  We welcome your suggestions in the Comment box and on the Contact Us page.
