Briefly, Tboli is a VSO syntax. Word order distinguishes subject, object and direct objects, given and new information, topic and comment. Syllable structure is CV, CVC, CCV, CCVC. The language is nontonal.

In noun phrases, articles, adjectives, and numerals all before and after noun heads. The maximum number of affixes is 1 prefix, 1 suffix; they indicate case of noun phrase. Also have passives, causatives and comparatives.
