Introduction

The Vagla language of Ghana is spoken by 13,900 people living in the Northern region: Damongo district, near Sawla. It is sometimes referred to as Konosarola, Paxala, or Vagala.

The ISO Code is [vag]. The linguistic classification is Niger-Congo, Atlantic-Congo, Volta-Congo, North, Gur, Central, Southern, Grusi, Western. There are two dialects: Bole and Buge. Vagla has a 68% lexical similarity with Chakali [cli].
