The Xavante people group have survived challenges with their language intact. It is a vital part of the culture and many are monolinguals.
In 1987 three women Joan Hall, Ruth McLeod, and Valerie Mitchell produced a small Xavánte-Portuguese dictionary with the help of the community. Another edition was produced in 2004.
We hope that all that is written in the language will continue to preserve the culture.
